Proposed new EU rules for batteries

The European Commission published a draft regulation to set out new rules for batteries to repeal and replace the existing Batteries Directive (2006/66/EC). The proposed new rules seek to introduce requirements that cover the full lifecycle of batteries, from design and production to reuse and recycling.

Energy efficiency label for vacuum cleaners annulled

Notice of anullment

The European Commission published a notice of annulment of the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 665/2013 on energy efficiency labeling requirements for vacuum cleaners. This follows a ruling of the General Court of the European Union in November last year in a case brought forward by the company Dyson. The Commission did not appeal and the annulment became in effect on 19 January 2019.
